Well hello! I just thought I would share some holiday decorating I have been doing.

I am starting over this year, purging my old Christmas decor. I have been trying to do this for the last couple of years, but always fail. This year I started early.

All of my decorations are either handmade, from The Dollar Tree or both. I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ as I like to change things out often.

By next year I may have a totally different design scheme in mind, so no biggie if I have to toss, re purpose, or pass these on.

I hope you enjoy the tour.

I even blinged up the ugly ceiling fan. A nice ceiling fan as ceiling fans go, but a decorating faux pas.

I discovered them this morning when I was perusing this cute little wedding blog. The Offbeat Bride. Take a look. The bride and groom showcased were using a version of them as cake toppers. Love it!

Cute? Weird? Cool? maybe you think they are Ugly?

What ever you think of them, I still want one. They are somewhere in the middle of my imaginary "wish list"

Yes, I know who/what Missoni is. But seriously Missoni for Target!!

I am reluctant to even post about this because I hate to give it anymore time than it has already garnered, but my "stupid people meter" is going off and the filter isn't working. I guess so many ~~idiots~~ shoppers had to have this stuff yesterday, they crashed the Target website.

Shine reports:

"The 400-piece line made by the Italian luxury knitwear designer Missoni exclusively for the cheap chic retailer features its trademark zig-zag patterns for between $2.99 for stationary and $599.99 for patio furniture -- a fraction of the price of the designer's real duds that can cost $595 to $1,500."

"Grandma, can I have this old dress and these ugly shoes for my Halloween costume. I am dressing up as 'fashion forward' this year."

Sorry if you like this stuff, but I don't get it. This "zig zag" pattern, it's called chevron by the way, has been used and over used for years. It reminds me of cheap knit, cheaply made, discount store apparel that has been reproduced over and over. It was big in the '70's and it was ugly then too.

This is the ONLY redeeming factor I can see in this circus. Cute? Yes. But would I pay $400. ($900. on Ebay by the way) for it. NOPE! and NOPE! again.

Apparently, Ebay is inundated with this crap.

From Shine again (yeah, same source, I'm lazy and they summed it up pretty well);

Some shoppers already are trying to capitalize on the fleeting nature of the Target's Missoni collection. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 1,591 listings for Missoni for Target on eBay.com that were selling for more than double the price found at the discounter. Travel totes were going for $169, while shoes were selling for $129.99.

"Grandma! Your shoes are on Ebay for $130."

Anywho, My rant is officially over, I'm off to the thrift stores to search for some chevron print crap to sell on Ebay.

Oh! and I'm boycotting Target until they return to being Target.

No More Granite for Janet

I ran across these beautiful tile products this morning and I immediately wanted to share.

Unfortunately, or fortunately if you value my opinion at all, sharing comes with my sweet interjection.

Whether you call it ceramic tile, subway tile, standard tile or Daltile, it's all the same thing and it has gotten a bad rap in the recent past. A basic product that was used for years was replaced, again by a more expensive giant, something everyone had to have and most couldn't afford, the behemoth granite slab. Every tract home/McMansion built in the last 10 years has at least a kitchen, and usually a master bath, FULL of granite slab, counter top, back splash, floor, shower, and it's become rather gauche. Don't get me wrong, I fell for it too, I have a whole kitchen full of granite. It's beautiful, but until the day I die, I will have to pretend I love it because I could never justify tearing it out and replacing it. I will have to move to get a new kitchen.

Again, I think it's back to basics. Most basics never go out of "style" you just have to know how to use them in different ways.

Anyway, the moral of the story, be careful what you wish for. I would love to have the option to be creative with some artsy ceramic tile. Maybe I'll redo a bathroom.

Mammoth is home to what seems like a bazillion lakes and streams...

it is absolutely beautiful, everywhere you go.

The weather in late summer is perfect.

Look how clear the water is!

We stay here. Convict Lake campground. It's secluded, quiet, there is a lake, a general store, cabins, a nice restaurant, boat launch and good fishing (not that I REALLY care about the fishing), but it's a beautiful lake.

...here we are, somewhere out there. Nice yes?

Buuuuut.....

Sorry quaint little campground, I am staying here next go 'round.

Any who, a girl can dream. We will be enjoying the Eastern Sierra's in a few short day's. I must now go and pack groceries, clothes, bedding, down time entertainment, etc...

I can relate with my pal the llama.

I SO can not get organized. I haven't been able to work on anything. My Etsy shop is picked over and I have worn or given away all of the tanks I was going to list (I am a horrible business person). I have a really cute new bow bag I want to make for the shop AND some really cute little fabric notebooks and camera bags. I need to work on making some new things but I just can not stay focused.

It seems something or someone else needs to be attended to first. Some one's at the door, some one's on the phone, some one's watch, phone, clothes need repair. Ooop, someone needs to go to the doctor, grocery store, play date, martial arts. Hey! I'm out of shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste... Wait what's that? Look the floor is dusty, the bath is dirty, dishes in the sink... I should go back to 9 to 5.

Here's to a great weekend and some me time. Hope you find some me time for yourself.

I related to part four of the five part series the most.

I found it all interesting although I enjoyed part four the most as it addressed the DIY and new sewing movements.

Sheeeeeeee's baaaaaaaaaaaack!! (Seriously, talking about yourself in the third-person is so sketchy, this is why I have to write again. Mush brain.)

Well, I thought I was never going to blog here again. I was neglecting my blogging commitment and this blog had become something I didn't even want to read, and I read everything (except the calendar and the bank statement) just ask my husband.

ONE of the reasons I had lost interest in blogging, is that I had begun to monitor my opinion and commentary. I tend to be a "hothead" and sometimes my filter doesn't properly function, I blame my Portuguese bloodline, but it's probably just due to social retardation (I know,that is an inappropriate term). But with that being said, it is part of my makeup, part of who I am and part of why the people I know like me, or dislike me for that matter.

So, hello disclaimer in my profile. I sometimes use bad language, but only for effect (or to be an asshole, not sure which) I have strong opinions on politics and religion, even art and design style (god forbid), which doesn't bode well with some. Please don't take it personally. I respect every one's beliefs and opinions, I just may not agree with them.

Here I am take me or leave me.

Thanksgiving Dinner Lazy Style

This is the turkey I have cooked for the last 4 or 5 years. It is no nonsense. You take it out of the freezer, put in the pan and cook it. That's it!

The first year I cooked one I didn't quite believe it. I thought I was reading the directions wrong. Why, if this was true, would anyone bake a turkey any other way. Well, it turned out great and has every year since then.

Yes. I also use boxed dressing. I definitely doctor it up with my own herbs and spices, but I start out with this

I love roasted brussel sprouts. I make my family pretend they like them. They are good, eat them. ;)

Yep. Boxed rolls also. Don't tell me you don't like these. Everyone loves the hawaiian sweet rolls.

I will be making the Cheesecake Cake out of this cookbook. The Cake Doctor is my hero. As you can see by the previous items I like to take a basic item and build on it.

I will also be making this Chocolate Pecan Pie via my other baking hero.

Oh! and this too...

...and don't forget the mashed potato's.

I know, I know, a giant carb feast. That's okay we don't mind. I will pile the dirty dishes in the sink and take a nap.

Ciao for now. I have to bake pies today. I am baking an extra pecan pie for a non-baking friend.

Some of us dine in the kitchen, some in a formal setting and some in between. Some of us have loads of space and could include ballroom dancing with our dining experience, and some may share space with two or three other areas.

I would REALLY love to use this idea for our Christmas tree this year. Seriously. I would do it, but alas, I am sure The Boss would not be on board with this one. I think it's cute and creative, plus is would bug the shit out of most people and that is my ultimate goal. Just kidding (sort of).

Anywho, What really started this Google perusal of Christmas decor was my search for some ideas to make new tree decor. I have been meaning to do it the last couple of years and just haven't made the time. Well guess what? Last year I threw out ALL of my Christmas decor so I would have to make new for this year. Hahahahaha! What a dumbass, I know. That will show me, huh?

Again, anywho. Does anyone have any sources, ideas, blog links, tutorials for great Christmas decor we can make? Yes, my lovely children (I know you guys read my posts) I said WE, so get prepared to make some Christmas decorations.

DIY Beaded Chandelier

This Marjorie Skouras chandelier has been seen in every design magazine and blog around. Deservedly so, it is gorgeous. It's made of precious stones and it's very expensive. It comes in several different color combo's, I love them all.

This one is my favorite. But they are all far out of my financial reach. Soooo....

Another Dollar Store DIY chandelier. This one's a little lighter and dainty, totally different look. I like it too.

Living In A Church

I received this in an email from a friend. I had never seen it before, but apparently it has been around for awhile. A couple in the UK renovated this abandoned church and made it a home. I like it, I think it's beautiful. It's no interior design master piece, but I think they did a great job in making it a home. Check it out.

I love the open kitchen. I would have put some open shelving up on the walls, but otherwise I like it.

Not much privacy here, but what a great place for some reading and a mid-day nap.

Kitchen Evolution

A very interesting New York Times article on the evolution of the kitchen, sparked my ever revolving mind into yet another Google search. My searches turned into hours of perusing pictures of kitchens through the decades. Instead of throwing away that time I thought I would share it with you.

Here are some iconic kitchens of the past.

A 1950's kitchen. I swear we had that kitchen table and chairs for years. No, I was NOT alive in the 50's, but my mom was a saver, she used every thing to the bitter end and that stuck around through the 60's, gawd, maybe even the 70's.

1960's kitchen with the plastic-y counter tops and metal lip/trim thing-y. Yikes.

Yes! The iconic 70's kitchen. Formica, linoleum, gold, green, stripes, flowers....my head is spinning. Aaarrgh!

Aw yes. The 1980's kitchen. With the "headbanger" upper cabinets above the counter top bar. How many times have you hit your head on one of those? This is one of the easiest, and I would suppose, most popular, kitchen remodel "removals". These upper cabinets, pass-thru and pony walls are easily updated, just take them out!

I am making various designs, they will mostly be one of a kind. They will be made with burlap, canvas and vintage linens. I am going to stencil some and embellish some with trinkets of some sorts. I am going to rant.

If you are feeling positive and upbeat today please stop reading now and go play Facebook games.

I am all for planning ahead BUT...

If I hear the words "Christmas in July" one more time I am going to hurl myself out the window (good thing I live in a single story home).

Retailers, you are not fooling anyone, we know you will have more sales.

I don't need to buy Christmas presents yet.

I don't want to make my decorations and cards yet.

I don't need to shop for gift wrap and make custom bows.

I don't need to plan my Christmas day meal.

I still need to float in my pool on Labor Day, honor our military on Veterans Day, decorate for Autumn, put together costumes and buy candy for Halloween, and buy my turkey and make a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, before I even think about Christmas.

STOP IT!

Aaaaahhhh, breathe. I digress.

My BFF and I have been spending some quality time shopping lately. Here we are last week at The Alley or Tai Pan Trading I can't remember.

Yesterday we hit Target. If you have ever shopped with us, you know, we are the shoppers you love to hate. We are WAAAAY too loud and we act like we are the only people in the store, cuz you know, we own Target. We are nice if you talk to us, really, we are approachable, but you will probably have to interrupt a non-sensicle conversation like this....

BFF: "Oh, wait, stop, I need a blender.

ME: "you neeeeed a blender?"

BFF: "Yes, mine broke" (or something like that)

ME: "I hate blenders"

BFF: "Yeah?"

ME: "...they are a pain in the ass to clean...ooo, look pillows"

I think our sense of entitlement stems from us still living in the ~~pit of the valley of hell~~ town we grew up in. "Get out of our way, we lived here before any of you people!" We did, really.

ME: "The Boss needs new pillows." (Maybe he won't be irritated with me shopping at dinner time if I bring back new pillows)

BFF: "I need an iron."

ME: "...they are over here." (walking to irons)

BFF: (Walks in the complete opposite direction to look at towels.)

ME: (Standing by myself in front of the irons)

BFF: (From three aisles over) JAN!...WHERE DID YOU GO?!...OH, THERE YOU ARE!

ME: "Here buy this iron, I have it, it works good."

BFF: "ok"

Back to the bed and bath section, cuz we both need towels.

ME: "Ooo, look at the black and white bath stuff"

BFF: "Pretty. Look at the shower curtain."

ME: "Ooo, look at the bath mat". (price $25.) F#$% that, I'm not paying 30 bucks for a bath mat.

BFF: (again) "Look at the shower curtain".

ME: "Ooo, pretty, Mine's better I only paid $9. for it at Walmart. (it's not really better, but I like it)

"Oh crap, we gotta go." (After all, it IS dinner time)

BFF: "Yeah, I have to pick up Kody."

ME: "I have to go to Barnes and Noble. Wanna go to Barnes and Noble?

BFF: "Ok"

We don't own Barnes and Noble, but we DO talk on our phones while shopping there. I know, you hate us.

So upscale baby stores, designer strollers, professional photo shoots, etc... not enough? Now designer disposable diapers! Really?!

Do we need to send the message earlier now? You have to have the better brand. It needs to cost more. They are better because they have Cynthia Rowley prints on them. (I have nothing against Cynthia Rowley, she just happens to be the designer they used)

..."Popular designer Cynthia Rowley has designed 11 styles of Pampers, including pastels, stripes, madras and ruffles. P&G said Wednesday they'll be offered in Target Corp. stores beginning in mid-July."...

Oh, they are selling them at Target, it must be okay!? Target wouldn't sell something I shouldn't have.

..."Prettier diapers will be pricier. A pack of about two dozen of the toddler-size diapers will have a suggested retail price of $15.99, about $6 above plainer versions."...

$6 more a box! 24 diapers will last, what, two or three days? (I may be off a bit, I haven't had a baby around in about 11 years) So that's $18 to $24 extra a week for designer diapers. You are going to spend about $1000. a year for "designer" diapers, because if you don't buy them you are doing your child an injustice. They are the exact same diaper as regular Pampers, just the outer design is different, they DO NOT perform any better. I can't wait to see people buying these with public assistance money!! You can then, watch me totally lose my mind.

I have a suggestion, put some f#$%ing pants on your kid, no one will know what kind of diapers they are wearing. Oh, and while you are at it, wash their face, dress them in something other than pajamas and stop letting them suck on the shopping basket handle.

I think this curtain rod is really cute. I love the colors they used too.

Talk about thrifty.

Tree branch
Spray paint
Basic mounting brackets

Take a walk and grab a tree branch a little bit larger than your window. Trim off most small shoots and branches, leave a few for character.

Scrape up some spare change for some spray paint in your favorite accent color.

Any hardware store has basic mounting brackets for a couple of bucks. If you look hard you will probably find some around the house.

Happy hunting, but most of all have fun.

My New Baby!

I cleaned her up a bit and was going to paint her, but I think I am going to leave her alone, nicks and scratches and all. What do you think?

Her current job is to enhance my non-existent entry way. Her drawers a catch all for small items with no home. I am not sure of her future use, but here she stands for now.

Oh, and does anyone know or have any guesses about how old this is? It was a friends and he is not sure how old it is.

Wall Decor And Work In Progress

I made some wall decor a couple of week ends ago. All were made with some fabric stash, a staple gun and thrifted art canvas. It's still not complete, but I thought I would share.

We are having some built-in book shelves done and hanging a flat screen on another wall, across the room, that should be done in a couple of weeks. I will post photos when that is complete, it's really ugly right now.

I don't know why this looks crooked in the pic it doesn't in person.

I am trying to accomplish a little redo, here and there, before the summer chaos arrives.

The photo is a little tight I know, but there is a new un-finished door to the right and an ugly thermostat to the left. It looks better in real life.

It definitely needs something else. The whole room is a work in progress at this point, but I wanted to share this portion so it would motivate me to finish it up.

Next. I have to paint the door. Everyone thinks I am crazy but I am painting it shiny black. It is the door from the garage to the family room/kitchen area, we use it like a front door, so it gets quite abused/dirty. So black it is. We will see...

Fat Quarter Bag

How to cut a fat quarter.

Fat quarter is the term given to a quarter of a yard of fabric that is cut as half of half a yard, to produce a "fatter" more square block of fabric rather than cutting the full width of fabric from the bolt. Dimensions are usually around 18" x 22" rather than 9" x 44". Many prefer this fat quarter cut, as the squarer piece of fabric provides more options for its use.

I designed a pattern over the weekend to make a handbag out of a fat quarter cut of fabric. Only the exterior body of the bag is made out of the fat quarter, you would need a contrasting fabric for the lining and strap. I can't wait to try it out with some of my Spoonflower fabric. Custom designs, OOAK (one of a kind), scanned art, endless possibilities.

This is just a prototype. It needs a little tweaking. Don't pay attention to the wonky fabric, it was just something from my scrap stash.

Now I just need to figure out how to convert my instructions to a PDF file. I would like to start offering PDF pattern sales in my Etsy shop.

Spoonflower

This is my first attempt at Spoonflower. Spoonflower is a design it yourself fabric printer that I have been stalking since its inception.

I would love to print some fabric and make some one-off handbags, but I just can't pull the trigger. I don't have all of the fancy software or knowledge it takes to make more complex designs. I know you have to start somewhere so, I will just have to go with what I know for now. I know this design looks kind of wonky but when you see it on the fabric mock up in a repeat it looks pretty cool. I have some other designs I am playing with so maybe I will hold my breath and click the "pay now" button.

I'll keep you posted.

So, I take an e-course on blogging and lose all motivation to blog!

I'm not sure what that is...feeling overwhelmed...under par...an aversion to taking direction....not really sure what it is??

Well now is the part in our course where a group critiques every ones blog. Ha! I have tried to post AT LEAST 3 or 4 times a week for the last two years. We are now 23 days into February and I have posted once and it was for an assignment.

...self sabotaging...maybe that's it.

Anyway. I have been working on some things and obviously it hasn't been my blog. Hopefully, I can get back to my blog with some new inspiration, motivation, elation, etc... when this course is over.

So critique away, just pretend it's still the end of January and go from there. ;)

Inspiration Boards

I have been participating in an online blogging class.

It is taught by Holly of Decor 8 fame and the very creative Leslie who shares her talents and beautiful photos at A Creative Mint.

Our homework assignment this week is to make and photograph an inspiration board.

I have a cork board above my desk that I am constantly changing out with photos, fabric, paper items, key chains, cards anything I find that strikes me. At first I was just going to photograph my cork board, but although it is full of things I love, the styling of it had much to be desired. Quite frankly, it was a mess!

All of the items included in my "homework" board are what surrounds me daily. They are either from my desk/work space or my inspiration wall in front of my desk.

I am posting several shots as I was experimenting with light, tight shot, wide shot, etc... I was having problems with light as it is partly cloudy today so every couple of minutes my light would change. I didn't run them through Photoshop as part of the assignment was to photograph them in natural light. So here they are in their unedited glory.

This was super fun, I think I want to make some more.

SPCA and Pets on Furniture

I missed this LA Times article on Friday. The SPCALA needs food donations. Their pet food donations have dropped off to less than 10% of what they were before the recession. Corporate sponsors have always supplied the food for the shelters, but those donations have dried up with the economy. The shelters are also experiencing record highs in abandoned and displaced pets, as people are walking away from their homes and pets.

I was reading Maison21 early this morning and learned of this dire situation. Christian May is Maison 21. Christian is a Los Angeles based interior decorator and Maison 21 is where he shares his opinion on decor and design and living in LA. I like reading LA based design blogs as it keeps me linked with the coolness of the city (which in only a 30 minute drive) and makes me forget I am stuck out here in hillbilly acres, I mean the suburbs.

If you are a fan of pet's on the furniture check out desire to inspire's Pet's on Furniture posts (another blog I discovered reading Maison 21). All kinds of cute pets on nice furniture.

If you are in or near the Los Angeles area please donate what you can. I am sending some food to work with the boss, he works downtown. Even if you are not in the LA area, the shelters everywhere are having the same problems. Please donate. Thanks!

15-5519. That's the color code for PANTONE® color of the year, Turquoise.

I have been waffling back and forth on whether to post about "the color of the year". It has been discussed on every design blog out there and most are probably sick of it by now. I also get the impression that most don't like it used in decorating. Some are saying it's too "trendy". What?

If it weren't in fashion, would it be "color of the year" Is it color of the year because it's in fashion or is it in fashion because it's color of the year? Do they just flip a coin to pick color of the year? Maybe they do? I don't know? I think it involves a little more research than that. But moving on...

I like turquoise. I liked it before it was color of the year. Turquoise pairs well with many other colors. It's really rather versatile. It pairs well with neutrals like black and brown, as well as brights like red, pink or orange.

I love turquoise and I love these bowls. Crate and Barrel.

Why Do People Do This?

Okay. Ready, Set, Go!

My current pet peeve is "giant flat screen above the fireplace".

Why? Why, oh why, do you do this?

First. It's like sitting in the front row at the theater. Cranking your neck upward to watch TV. The TV should be eye level (like wall decor, by the way, but that's another rant).

Second, HOW can this be good for your TV? Recommendations suggest that if the temperature is 90 degrees or more above the fireplace box, you should not "run" your TV. You can hang it there, just don't build a fire.

Third. It really screws up the aesthetic of your fireplace. The TV is bad enough, but to intentionally make your fireplace ugly with your ugly TV is not necessary. I cringe every time I think of some drilling holes into my beautiful slate fireplace.

We acquired a new TV over the Christmas holiday and have to mount it on a swing arm type bracket, beside the fireplace. Yes, I know what you are saying, how attractive is that? It's not. Not to mention, it will probably snap off and hit the floor the first time we have an earthquake.

We are going to somewhat camouflage it with built in book shelves. But it's still a TV on the wall. I AM happy it will not be taking up precious floor space in our not so big house.

Homegoods has some nice ideas here, none of them involving a fireplace.

There are frames for your TV. Although, I don't know where all the boxes, cords and cables went?

Oh! If you are going to buy a stand for your TV, why not use it? This looks like an unnecessary wall installation.

Forceful Beauty

Flowers liven up a space. Add some life to your dull winter, post Christmas, decor. If you don't have easy access to fresh flowers conjure some up yourself. Push those little buggers right out of their winter home. Force some bulbs.

A quick "how to" on forcing paperwhites will have you forcing bulbs in no time.

Paperwhite narcissus and amaryllis are the easiest bulbs to force. You can have blooms of paperwhites in 3-5 weeks, amaryllis can bloom in 6-8 weeks. Other spring-flowering bulbs require a longer conditioning period to induce blooms.

Here is an informative Sunset Magazine article on forcing bulbs. I realize it is a bit late for some of these blooms, but you can plan for next year, or if you live somewhere that is cold until June you still have time to enjoy some new blooms.

A week without blogging. I cannot believe I neglected my blogging commitments for a whole week. There are several reasons I started a blog, one of those reasons was to give myself a sense of daily accomplishment, although I did accomplish some tasks last week blogging wasn't one of them.

Last week I experienced Christmas meltdown and blogging just wasn't in me. I didn't have one defining moment, just a whole lot of nonsense piled on, and on, and on..... I couldn't think of anything remotely interesting to blog about and still obviously don't have much on my mind, other than I didn't blog last week. So...hello again and I am working on my blogger block.

My Day Dream Home

I had another dream last night about my "dream home". My "dream home" is not what you would imagine. It's about 1000+ sq ft, has a low maintenance front yard and a functional back yard with adequate space. The interior is cozy and inviting. It has three bedrooms and two baths. My dream home has two exceptional (to me, at least) qualities. It has a large finished garage with a hobby/laundry room attached and the kitchen has a....wait....can you stand the suspense.....DUTCH DOOR.

This home is loosely based on a "fixer upper" I showed to a client in my re-sale days. It needed paint, appliances, fixtures, flooring etc.. but it had a big hobby/laundry room in the garage and dutch doors in the kitchen and I loved it. I think it was the simplicity of it. This cute little cottage surrounded by ugly Mediterranean Mc Mansions. It was uncomplicated.

I plan on sketching a floor plan and renderings for my cute little dream home. For now, I am "shopping" for the details so I can put it all together.

So what's the point to my ramblings you ask? I am looking for Dutch Doors....

Easy Seasonal Wreaths

How to make it: Collect several dozen ball ornaments (for an 18-inch form, we used 28 large balls and 60 small ones). Attach the balls to the wreath with floral wire until most of the greenery is covered. Then use heavy wire to make a hanging loop and camouflage it with a wide satin ribbon. Note: If your wreath will sit in a high-traffic area, you might want to opt for shatterproof balls... from Quick and Simple.

How to make it: For this wreath, you can use whatever variety of dried herbs, flowers and pinecones you prefer. To re-create our version, wire your wreath with assorted small bundles of aromatics, such as heather and lavender. Then accent the wreath with wired clusters of hypericum berries. Fill in the design by hot-gluing several pinecones to the greens. Finish with a small flourish of lemongrass, eucalyptus and three small artichokes. Wire all together and top with a floppy satin bow in magenta... from Quick and Simple.

How to make it: Use a floral pin to attach one end of a 6-foot silk leaf and berry garland to the back of a 16-inch grapevine wreath. Then, tightly wrap the garland until the wreath is covered. Cut off any excess and pin the loose end to the back. To add even more bursts of color, pop the heads off several silk blooms and hot-glue them to your wreath... from Quick and Simple.

My New Christmas Tree

I was wondering where I was going to put my Christmas tree this year.
