Fall Table Decor on the Cheap

Today I updated some of my Etsy store photos to reflect the up coming changing of the seasons.

I love the colors of Fall. My home decor is mostly fall colors orange/red/gold, I just recently covertly added some hot pink into the mix in the living room.
I am loving it.

Any who, what I really wanted to share with you are the cheap and simple ways I style my photos. I like to change out the small things in my home often, replacing  small decor and accessories for the changing seasons and  the little holidays.

All the items in the above photo were either free or from the Dollar Tree
Twigs/Branches = Free from yard
Pine cones = Free from neighbors yard.
Fall leaves = $1. a bag Dollar Tree.
River rock pebbles = $1. a bag Dollar Tree.
Floral  in vase = $1. a bunch Dollar Tree.
Red vase = Free from last years birthday flowers.

Home Goods Ala Carte place mat and silverware combo.
Tie them up and stack them in a basket for buffet style dining.

Here is a crepe paper leaf I personalized with the trusted Sharpie
You could use them as place cards by just adding your guests names to them.
Large Fall leaves = Package of 10 for $1. at Dollar Tree.

Here I added a manila hang tag with a stamped message.
Any office supply store stocks these type tags for about $5. for a ton.
Stamp from the dollar bin at Michaels.

The stems on the leaves are wire so you can bend and wrangle them to do what you want.
Here I used one as a substitute for a napkin ring.
By the way, the grapevine wreath that the plate is sitting in is from the Dollar Tree as well.

I even gave my business card a change of scenery.

So there you go.
Go out and spend a couple of bucks and spruce up a little area.
It's fun.

My shameless disclaimer/plug: All table linens in photos can be purchased at Home Goods Ala Carte.
Thanks for visiting.

Thanksgiving Table Decor

Still in need of some table decor ideas for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Here are a quick few and "where to buy" sources.

A natural color pallet.
Use leather or twine to secure a beautiful fall leaf to your napkins and place setting.

Unbleached cotton napkins to achieve the look.

Again a neutral color pallet with a more formal look.

Dress up your neutral table with silver ware holders and metallic chargers.

Simple and lovely.
Let the kids dress their own table.
Cut out fall leaves and glue or tack to table dressing.

Some white pumpkins.
Don't have any white pumpkins on hand, spray paint left overs from Halloween white and decorate with dollar store trim.

Happy Decorating.

Fall In Love

A couple of weeks ago I attended the wedding of the year.

I loved it, it was beautiful, casual and relaxed. It was chill (yes, I said that).

Oh! and I had a hand in the decor. It was so much fun helping the bride put this together. I enjoyed every minute of it.

The bride and groom's table was so cute with their fancy long stem mason jar toast glasses.

Just married!

We used the bridesmaid bouquets to decorate the bridal party table.

Explosive is right. By the end of the night we were drinking some kind of shot that tasted like an oatmeal cookie, it was yum yum yummy!

This was just some of the candy. It was very warm and we had to wait until the last minute to put it out so it wouldn't melt. Of course, I forgot to get a picture of it later.

"Pick a seat, not a side..." Yes, we use Pinterest.

It was a beautiful day. I hope to share more soon.

Getting Ready For Fall

It's started, the magic dance of incorporating a new season into your decor.

You start by pulling out a box of  last years decor, then you move this, to accommodate that, buy something you run across in the store because "it will work".  Then you look at it and it's all wrong.

So far, some old pumpkins from last year...Blah.

I am working on my front porch now...news at 11.

Have you started decorating for fall?

Halloween Decor

I have quite a bit of left overs from last years fall projects, like this one.

I think I have found a use for them.

I just need to buy some cans of spray paint and some glitter and maybe a few add ins...

very Halloween festive...

Quick and Easy Fall Decor

Mums are on sale everywhere (at least in So Cal) and come in an array of fall colors. What a great way to display them and add some fall color to your home. They already come in a pot, all you have to do is clean the pumpkin or gourd, drop the pot in and viola, a spiffy fall planter.

Fall Decor Inspiration

Do you ever misplace your seasonal decor from one year to the next? I did.

I started my progressive fall season decor the other day and I can not quite locate all of my decorations. I apparently stored them in two separate locations last year. So today the search continues.

I may have to replace my "missing" items with some things from this display.

Kitchen Vignette

I created a little fall vignette for my kitchen counter this weekend. I was really happy with it, not too much, out of the way, not too messy, etc.... But when I went to post the picture I realized what a bad housekeeper I have been. I do have a photo editing program, but I am not an expert at it. So here is my kitchen counter top unedited.

Dusty tea lights to the left, junk basket to the right.
At least my kids are both happy in the picture.
