Iman Home Fabrics

Look what Iman has been up to.

Iman Home Fabrics at Calico Corners, a beautiful collection of home decor fabrics. I guess it would figure, one of the most beautiful people on the planet would be behind a most beautiful collection of fabric. Have a look.

Have a colorful holiday weekend.
Enjoy!

Monday

The New Catalog is Here!

The new Ikea catalog is out. I will have to sit down and look at every page.

I feel like Steve Martin in "The Jerk" when the new phone book is left at his house. "The new phone book's here! The new phone book's here!"

Here are a some new things I may have to acquire.

Pretty in pink...

Do these come by the case? I will need many more than just the two.

...something to snuggle up in.

...some yummy new fabric.

Just a little Ikea eye candy to start out the week. Enjoy your Monday!

Tuesday

I know it's only the 2nd of September, but in just a few short weeks it will officially be Fall.
I needed a little motivation to get in the mood. I thought you might too.

Here are some really quick and easy projects to get you started.

Before you know it, it will be Halloween, Thanksgiving and then, well you know..... but that's another "season".

You can purchase the plastic version of these urns at most dollar stores. Fill them with whatnot in fall colors.

An easy one item wreath, for your door or above your mantle.

Cute little corn husk votive covers for your table, and...

also for your table, pine cone place cards.

Have fun!

Hey, my people are talented!

I found this book while browsing about the other day. I believe I will have to add this to my collection.

My grandparents were born in the Azores, the islands off of the coast of Portugal. I started looking around at some of the hand painted tile work and mosaics that the people of Portugal produce. There is a vast inventory of beautiful pictures and websites showing the work of these talented people. Here are just a few;

Domas Heating

I hope some of that talent is just dormant in my DNA. Maybe some day it will spring into action. Here's hoping!

Friday

Versace Home

I stumbled across this last night, actually Morgan found it and we went crazy. I knew about the apparel, but home furnishings, OMG!
So out of reach, but everything is just beautiful, cuz you know, it's Italian and all.

Everything is just perfectly gorgeous. These are a couple of my favorites, but not together of course.

I love the silver with the solid white pillows, and the green is just the right shade, the pattern on the fabric..... aaaaahhhh.

...and sweet baby jesus, what do you think happened when I saw this?

Can you f#$%ing believe this? It is perfect!!

There will never be another black and white chair in my life. Unless I win the lottery or rob a bank (a large bank) this will never be in my home. How can any other compare?

I am sure it would all look wonderful in my circa. 1980's Southern California tract home! Ha!

Versace taste and an Ikea budget. A girl can dream.

Thursday

I thought this was cute.

"Not your Mama's Papasan"

The iconic Papasan chair.

Pier 1 Imports is giving us a little look into the evolution of a Pier 1 icon.

They have been selling these unique chairs since they started business in 1962. This hot seat is a best-selling staple in each and every Pier 1 store.

Doesn't everyone know someone who has had one of theses chairs, or had one themselves. I had a friend in high school who had one hanging from the ceiling in her bedroom. Oh, the chair envy I felt at that time.

Wednesday

Cost Plus World Market has the cutest chair pads. You could change the look of your whole dining set with theses, or make a custom cozy corner for reading, or remake your desk area.

For the price, $12.99 you could buy some of each and change them out peiodically, to suit your mood.

Any how, have fun! Change things up today.

Monday

I have finished up a couple of new projects.

I would love to list them in my ETSY store, but they may create some shipping challenges. They are a little bulky.

There are so many different shipping methods in addition to, size, time, weight, location, etc... it gets a little overwhelming. Any suggestions?

Here's a look ; think they will fit in a Priority Mail envelope? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Brown and white washed linen. Set of 2.

This lace looks kind of pink in the picture, but it is not, it's a beige/champagne color.

Green, Yellow and White cotton. Set of 3.

Friday

I was cleaning out some of my stash yesterday and I ran across this. It is a tear out from August 1999 Interior Design magazine.

Yes, this is a chair made of shoes, two of my favorite things.

I appreciate it as art, but part of me wants to disassemble it. I would love to see what wonderful shoes have been used to make it. I wonder, what size are they? I wonder where they came from, who wore them, their history. Are they pairs, or single shoes? Do I like shoes more than chairs? I cannot possibly like shoes more than chairs! What has come over me?

Any thoughts on the shoe chair?

Thursday

Throw some color around!

These cuties are great adding some unexpected color to a room.

Brooks Slipcover Chair
Pottery Barn
A contender for the chair museum.

Wednesday

I promised some color, so here, some color and commentary.
Color is the first thing we notice, and elicits a psychological and emotional response. Knowing the ways in which people respond to color can be a powerful marketing and design tool.

Today's color is GREEN.
Green is the color of life and nature. There are many different greens. People's response can drastically change depending on the value (how light or dark a color appears), as well as the context in which the color is utilized.
www.apartmenttherapy.com
Dark greens are classifying colors and therefore, only a limited number of people respond positively. Only 3% of the population responds favorably to dark blue-green, but it is the upper socio-economic 3% of the population.
Hmmm, one could only hope to have some green rooms to design in their future.

Tuesday

English Country Antiques and Home Furnishings

This is adorable, I wish I could have it in my home. The problem is someone may, no, WOULD, actually put their yucky feet on it and I would have to beat some heads.

Yes, I know what you are thinking. Can't she find anything that isn't black and white or zebra print?! I think I am actually getting tired of it. Sort of. Maybe.

I promise to find some color, I will look endlessly, no black and/or white for awhile. Hopefully. I'll try.

Saturday

'memba these? His name is Tippy the Turtle and he lives in a pond. They used to make cats, dogs, elephants, you name it.

They may still sell them, I don't know, but I know this one has been hanging around along time. My daughter found him in a drawer at her grandmothers and has been bugging me for a week to "make" it. Maybe I'll teach her how to "make" it, after all it's the sewing equivalent of paint by numbers. Sew on dotted line.

Friday

Yesterday, as I was trolling one of my favorite online bargain stores (smartbargains.com), I came upon this.

I was immediately hit with a brain storm (yes, I think my loopy melon has recovered from the heat).

I CAN collect chairs, just not the one's you sit in. I will collect prints, photos, tear outs, what ever, and hang them on my walls! My own chair museum, it's not like the job offers were rolling in to work at the real? chair museum anyway.

I have a 20 foot ceiling in my living room/office/workspace and have agonized for years over what to do with all the negative wall space. I'm not real keen on climbing around on a 20 ft ladder, but that's a sacrifice I will have to make to be the curator of the chair museum.

Side note: Karen this would look delightful with the bench you liked a few posts back. Something for your new home??

Tuesday

So I have been trying to work on some things, but alas, I just keep adding junk on junk. I think I need a new workspace.

What I really need is some inspiration, I think the recent heat wave has fried my brain.

I think I will go through my blogroll and look at all of the beautiful things others are working on, maybe it will spark something in my overheated melon.

Friday

Everywhere I look lately I see a green wall. Not the eco kind of green wall, but green paint. I love the bright, bold greens being used.

I think I may have to add some color green to my white pallet home.

I like the true green on top, but it may wear on me after awhile. I like the yellow-green here, but I don't know if this one will work in my home without furniture redo.
Thoughts?

Wednesday

Ahhhh, stupid crateandbarrel.com and their email blasts. I promise I will stop with the crate and barrel regurgitation, but I could not resist these sea urchin vases.

Two reasons these are great.
1. Soooo cute
2. the price $3.50-$4.50!!
I just wish I had a place for them. (My home is more play place than showcase).

Oooo, oooo! And this too, to go with.

ok, I'll stop now.
But really you need them both.
