Add visual interest to upholstered chairs by using two different fabrics.

Do you like bold prints, but are afraid they will be too much..?

Monday

Patchwork Chairs

I am obsessed. I have a bit of an obsession with chairs, not the regular matchy-matchy my sofa, sit in them everyday chairs, but decorative chairs.

My new favorite are patchwork chairs, and it started with these...

Arhaus Casama
I love these, they are beautiful. They are handcrafted and each chair is one of a kind.

I love all this green.

Squint Limited
Another beauty. Of course this one stole my heart with the color scheme. Made in England and upholstered traditionally, with tied springs and hand stitched seams.

Urban Outfitters
From Urban Outfitters a mid century modern.

Design Sponge DIY
For you do-it-yourselfers, a Design*Sponge post from last year shows you how you can make your own patchwork chair.

Thursday

Mind Massage

My mind needs massaging.

This morning after the "Chino 500" (school drop off) I am going to check out a bit.

I will be here (or a similar likeness) reading...

Kestwick Chair

this...

or this...

Oh, look! What's that? The foreword is written by Dr. Oz. Ahhhh, I think I will start with this one.

I love me some Dr. Oz!

Wednesday

DIY Chair

Almost every home has one or more of these around, if not, they are abundant at thrift stores and yard sales. Quick and Simple shows you how to re-upholster the seat in you favorite fabric.

What You'll Need:
screwdriver
yard fabric (choose something durable)
scissors
staple gun
1/4-inch staples

1. Unscrew the seat from the chair (there will most likely be a screw in each corner of the seat, attaching it to the frame). Save the screws.

2. Lay the seat on the fabric. Fold the fabric so that it wraps around the edges of the seat, enough to cover the top. Note how much fabric you'll need, and then cut a square of fabric about 2 inches larger all around.

3. Place the fabric, wrong side facing you, on your worktable. Place the seat, top side down, on the fabric. Fold the fabric to cover the seat and secure it to the back with a staple placed about 1 inch in from the seat's edge, in the center of the front side. Then pull the fabric taut across the seat and staple it to the opposite side.

4. Continue to staple around the edge of the seat, smoothing the fabric flat and creating small pleats as necessary. (As you work, mark the places where the screws go into the seat so that you will be able to align the seat on the frame.)

5. When you reach the corners, fold the fabric down, creating two pleats so that it lies flat. Using scissors, cut away as much of the excess fabric as you can, then staple down the pleats. It doesn't need to be perfect, as this part of the chair will be hidden.

6. Place the seat back on the chair and screw it back into place with the original screws.

Friday

Have a great holiday weekend!

Frontgate Elitre Sunlounger

Frontgate Elipse Relaxer
Versace Home

I stumbled across this last night, actually Morgan found it and we went crazy. I knew about the apparel, but home furnishings, OMG!
So out of reach, but everything is just beautiful, cuz you know, it's Italian and all.

Everything is just perfectly gorgeous. These are a couple of my favorites, but not together of course.

I love the silver with the solid white pillows, and the green is just the right shade, the pattern on the fabric..... aaaaahhhh.

...and sweet baby jesus, what do you think happened when I saw this?

Can you f#$%ing believe this? It is perfect!!

There will never be another black and white chair in my life. Unless I win the lottery or rob a bank (a large bank) this will never be in my home. How can any other compare?

I am sure it would all look wonderful in my circa. 1980's Southern California tract home! Ha!

Versace taste and an Ikea budget. A girl can dream.

Thursday

I thought this was cute.

"Not your Mama's Papasan"

The iconic Papasan chair.

Pier 1 Imports is giving us a little look into the evolution of a Pier 1 icon.

They have been selling these unique chairs since they started business in 1962. This hot seat is a best-selling staple in each and every Pier 1 store.

Doesn't everyone know someone who has had one of theses chairs, or had one themselves. I had a friend in high school who had one hanging from the ceiling in her bedroom. Oh, the chair envy I felt at that time.

Wednesday

Cost Plus World Market has the cutest chair pads. You could change the look of your whole dining set with theses, or make a custom cozy corner for reading, or remake your desk area.

For the price, $12.99 you could buy some of each and change them out peiodically, to suit your mood.

Any how, have fun! Change things up today.

Thursday

Next 5 years of your life. A book designed to help you figure out the next five years of your life at CB2
Even if you don’t need help with the next 5 years, it would look nice sitting around somewhere.

Brooks Slipcover Chair
Pottery Barn
A contender for the chair museum.

Friday

Yesterday, as I was trolling one of my favorite online bargain stores (smartbargains.com), I came upon this.

I was immediately hit with a brain storm (yes, I think my loopy melon has recovered from the heat).

I CAN collect chairs, just not the one's you sit in. I will collect prints, photos, tear outs, what ever, and hang them on my walls! My own chair museum, it's not like the job offers were rolling in to work at the real? chair museum anyway.

I have a 20 foot ceiling in my living room/office/workspace and have agonized for years over what to do with all the negative wall space. I'm not real keen on climbing around on a 20 ft ladder, but that's a sacrifice I will have to make to be the curator of the chair museum.

Side note: Karen this would look delightful with the bench you liked a few posts back. Something for your new home??

Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona cocktail table by Knoll.

This room is from a lovely home in the new issue of Elle Decor. The chairs, the chairs, the chairs!

I wish I could fill my home with just chairs. A chair collector? Just collect beautiful chairs. Is there a chair museum? That's it, I am missing my calling, I should be a curator at the chair museum. Anyone? My resume is updated, let me know where to send it.

Saturday

Absolutely Beautiful Things...

...so true.

I have to share, I saw this wonderful chair (and beautiful little cushion) on design*sponge.

This chair is to die for. A recently recovered wing chair project by Anna Spiro of Black and Spiro (http://www.blackandspiro.com.au/). Her blog is appropriately called; Absolutely Beautiful Things (http://www.absolutelybeautifulthings.blogspot.com/). Australian designers are some of my favorites, lots of talent there. Check her out, her blog is beautiful.

Bummer, I wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of the old wing chair I had.

Wednesday

Black and White

I love this! I am a sucker for anything black and white (and red too). I wish I had somewhere for it.

I just perused Smart Bargains (http://www.smartbargains.com/), you never know.

Tuesday

Classic Mirrors

Mirrors reflect your good taste.

An ad from the May 1965 edition of BHG. A designer, Ruth L. Strauss, demonstrates how to use different styles of mirrors to achieve different effects. Colors and patterns may come and go, but a few classic pieces will last a lifetime. The mirror, chair and table would work with almost any trend of the last 40 years.

I really love, love, love is the red wingback chair. Reeeeaaaallllyyyy!

Friday

Still stylish

Yesterday, as I was searching for some fabric inspiration I found something equally exciting (to me at least). I found some vintage (1965-1968) Better Homes and Gardens magazines. I haven't had the time to look through them all, but I flipped through a couple of them last night.

I think this room is fabulous! It is from the August 1967 edition. The cost of the magazine was 35 cents AND it was still the larger (12" x 9") size format.

I may have to come up with a better way to get the pics on my computer, but I just can't bring myself to tear out the pages. I cannot wait to share more of these awesome treasures.

Thursday

Aaahhhhh......

I will be here, reading, for the next week.
I have to hide from foreclosures, food rationing, gas prices, global warming, insert all other craziness that's happening, I am feeling a bit frazzeled.
Ciao!

Sunday

Tattoo Chair

Check out this cool chair. I saw it on Designwire, not sure who's it is, butI like it.
